Today in Twitter(dq)
Friday, November 30th, 2007- Yesterday was a big day - lifted weights for the first time in 6 years. Nice to know that I’m just as much of a baby now as I was in 2001. #
‘Shit-television’ meaning reruns. I understand that some television shows have filmed and aired all of the episodes they have - fine, show reruns. I expect to see repeats of The Big Bang Theory.
But shows like Smallville and Grey’s Anatomy are choosing NOT to air episodes that they already have in the can. Not OK. Why the hell am I watching a rerun of Grey’s Anatomy tonight when last week’s episode was the first in a two part series? Fuck it - no TV for me tonight; I’m going to grill some chicken in the Albuquerque snow.
Anyhow, if you’re a sci fi fan and you want to know the status of your favorite show, check the Slice of Scifi website.

January is pack and move month for me, but it’s going to be relax and cook month, too. I’m starting to gather up the recipes I’d like to try and, in addition to mastering pad thai, I’m going to make up a couple of jars of Chez Pim’s nam prik pao. Let me know if you try it (or, if you’d like a jar!).
The professional part of my life is one that I rarely consider, but I’ve been thinking a lot about ‘career’ lately. For a long term plan, I’d like to support myself as a freelance writer and consultant. Even though I haven’t the time, I may start a podcast about writing. Not only will it look good on the ol’ CV, but it would be fun.
Anyone interested in joining me on this silly endeavor?

I officially resigned from my current job today - I’ll be taking a sweet-ass job at the University of Michigan in February! Here’s a copy of my resignation letter:

Dear [supervisor]:
It is with great pleasure that I quote one of my heroes - Dwight Schrute - on this monumental occasion.
Would I ever leave this company? Look, I’m all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I’m being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly, I’m going wherever they value loyalty the most.
Yes, I’m leaving [company], and I regret only that I have no regrets…

OK, so I didn’t quote The Office in my resignation, but I thought about it. It would have been friggin’ hilarious. To be honest, I have enjoyed the job I’ve held over the past few years, but I’m looking forward to moving back to Michigan and registering for an adult hockey league. Begin planning your welcome home parties!
