Crafty Dad(dq)

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Little Max(dq) has been pulling Harry Potter 7 off the bookshelves in my poorly babyproofed room. Though he’s too young to read the book himself, I think he’d be excited about playing with these:

Yes, I’ve decided that I’m going to make at attempt at being a crafty dad. Visit craftzine for more ideas for Christmas presents you may want to make for your godchild Max.

Cutest Towels EVER

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I may buy 4 of these towel sets for my brother…eventually he’ll move out of our parents house and need them. I may also buy 100 sets to keep on hand for: housewarmings; baby showers; wedding showers; wedding anniversaries; get well soon gifts; birthdays; christmas gifts; just because gifts; etc.

Beer Me, Link Me Thursdays: Lollilove

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Because my current obsession is The Office and because my current obsessions direct much of what I do, I’m naming this series of posts ‘Beer Me, Link Me Thursdays.’ We’ll let Andy explain:

Every Thursday I’ll post a link that I find extremely interesting/funny/compelling. Like Andy, my standards are low - if you find these links interesting/funny/compelling only a quarter of the time, I’ll be happy.

Today’s link - Lollilove

Not only did Jenn Fischer of The Office write and direct this serious documentary, but she also starred in it. It’s gotsta be good, right? Well, I was interested enough to netflix the movie, but I’ve had it for a few days now and haven’t felt like watching it. Maybe tomorrow.

Max is learning to walk…

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

…and he took a bit of a spill over the weekend. I was more nervous than Max was - he cried for a minute or two, and then was right back on his feet playing with a ball.

He’s also learning a few words - ‘ball’ and ‘dog’ are his first words. I think he said ’shit’ this morning, but I suspect it was just a jumble of sounds he was making and not a real word. I’m hoping his first phrase will be British, something like, “Hello, I’m Bridget Jones! I like ice cream and weighing myself.”

My Upcoming Long Weekend in Rapture

Though I’ve not nearly as much expendable income as I’d like, I think I may go ahead and buy Bioshock for the 360 this weekend. My sources rate this game highly, and without Oblivion keeping me busy (I was turned into a vampire and quickly grew tired of the game), I need a new XBox 360 quest.

Of course, I’d wait for Halo 3 if I thought my 1st person shooter friends would buy 360’s.

Current Obsessions

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Two of them, in fact. First, goodreads has become quite the site among my friends. I’m excited about my goodreads page - it’s gotten me reading again. After finishing creative writing graduate program, I took quite the break from anything that came close to literature. Now, I’m slowly finding myself motivated to read before bed rather than playing my favorite online game.

Also, I’ve watched all 3 seasons of the American version of The Office. It’s amazing, and I’ve already marked my calendar for the season premiere (September 27). The experience of watching all 3 seasons back-to-back-to-back compelled me to once again launch the chad(dq) blog - I wanted to say a little something about it, so I forced a short review into goodreads. I’m slightly afraid that the goodreads librarians will kick my ass, so I’m glad to be able to use this blog as a forum for my general, random thoughts.

So, to sum it up? Right now, I’m counting on books and TV to entertain me.

Back(dq)

I’m once again making an attempt at some general blogging. I haven’t regularly updated Palatable Pierogi, though any food-related topics will still be posted to that site. I am a somewhat regular contributer to lists(dq), though the truly hilarious posts come from everyone else. To keep up-to-date on my entire online world, check out my tumble log.
